Fred Haase
Acrylic Artist
I studied art at Minnesota State Mankato majoring in painting and pottery, and continued my education at Northeastern University, and the University of Miami. I had the privilege to be an artist for NASA at Cape Canaveral during the Apollo Space Program and still cherish the friendships I made being part of America’s pioneering space effort. I have worked for and started companies that have challenged and broadened my business experience, but most of all opened doors to the best friendships a person could ask for. Art has always influenced my life, and perhaps even more so my view of the world. Life is indeed art, and I find myself happiest when lost in creating my artistic vision of that moment in life.
My art career started out as a portrait artist. Portraits are special to me in that In that I have the ability and perhaps the obligation to portray not only the likeness but the feelings and demeanor of the person I am painting. These feelings affect my use of colors and shapes to depict moods I see in the person I am painting. I expanded my self-described whimsical style of painting to include Florida wildlife I enjoyed while living in the Florida Keys, such as the herons, turtles, and fish that you will see here. I am a water person so many of my paintings will include ocean subjects. I also try to capture the love I have for motorcycles, cars, and racing in the Corvette, motorcycle, and racing paintings that are displayed in these galleries. How can you not love a vintage yellow Indian motorcycle?
I try to add my whimsical flair and bright colors to my paintings to bring out the character and feelings of my subjects. I strive to make each painting a study in graphic motion and color. I start each painting with tempera and marker sketches as I work through the shapes and motion that I feel important to each subject I paint. The results, as you can see in my galleries, are whimsical acrylic paintings that combine a mix of detail and abstract that bring my subjects to life.
“Please enjoy my art. I hope you can see the feeling I put in my paintings, and appreciate the colors and shapes that bring my subjects to life.”
